Nigerian Landrace (Duckfoot Pheno) x Acer 1 (Duckfoot Line)

A few years ago, when I first got online, a fellow grower from Nigeria asked if I wanted to trade seeds. Of course, I couldn't pass up this opportunity. In the early days, I had no idea how difficult customs could be, and after two failed attempts on my part, he finally received the seeds I had sent. In return, I waited over two months for his seeds to arrive via snail mail. After wondering if the trade was worth it, it turned out to be one of the best trades I've made in terms of rare landrace genetics.

Perhaps it won't be considered a true landrace, as he had grown and bred it for years, but it is definitely a long-flowering, narrow-leaf, African sativa. It can flower for up to 16 weeks, almost triples its size during flowering, and produces airy, foxtail-like resinous buds that form huge clusters. The effect is pure sativa... energetic, uplifting, cerebral, and sometimes a little trippy, but not particularly paranoia-inducing.

Out of 30 plants, I culled the males and ended up with a dozen females. The one that always caught my eye was the one with the Duckfoot mutation. I had been introduced to leaf mutations through my friend at PBLH Genetics, but this was the first time I saw it pronounced. It displayed this mutation since the seedling stage, and although it wasn't the most vigorous of the group, it made it due to its unique appearance. Its profile was sweet, floral, with a hint of citrus.

Around the same time my interest was piqued, I was growing a tray of Acer1 from PBLH, a unique Duckfoot cross with its own wild backstory. If you're curious to read more about it, I highly recommend visiting the seed list on the website and checking it out. I had about 40 Acers in the third week of flowering when, unfortunately, I had to abandon the grow due to time and resource constraints. Although I couldn't finish or sample the flowers, I managed to collect pollen from one of the most vigorous and earliest flowering males that had caught my attention. I used this pollen to pollinate my Nigerian selection. Acer1 tends to have a sativa-like effect and can also have a long flowering period of 11 to 16 weeks.

Over 75% of the offspring carry the Ducksfoot mutation in the Nigerian Duckfoot. Expect longer flowering times and sativa-like effects.
